This course will provide an introduction to waste collection, including a history of waste collection vehicles and types of solid waste collection. It will also discuss waste collection management, ergonomics and environmental impacts of solid waste collection.
Upon completion of this course, the attendee will be able to:
- Describe the variety of waste disposal trucks available and hauling benefits of each
- Discuss waste collection management issues of public vs. private companies
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of the EPA emissions regulations
- Describe the current challenges of waste management collection including the environmental, security, operational, financial, and safety issues involved
